Association of Stress and Infection Control Protocol; A Cross-Sectional Study among Dental Students

Abstract


Introduction: Occupational stress has been a hot topic among dental professionals worldwide and it has impacted their clinical performance as well. Maintenance of infection control protocol is an important component of dental business, which enhances its significance in multiple folds. Materials and methods: Target population included dental students from different levels including under and post graduate from Riyadh city. A total number of 500 students were questioned by questionnaire being distributed through social media including Facebook and Whatsapp. Results: 66% of them are females and 34% males. According to the distribution of participants on the basis of their academic years, this shows that 35% students belong to 4th year, 21% to 5th year, 9% to 6th year and 12% from postgraduate courses. Conclusions: There is a positive correlation between high stress and low level of infection control knowledge and attitude.
